I got this brand new M-series Gateway laptop from radio shack. I can't get in it since there's a password.?

I tried typing in every possible password that i could find. The hint was "us" but i still can't figure it out. I'm asking anyone who may have a laptop that asked for a password when they first turned it on. No, there was no type of info containing my password because i searched the entire box. I really need help. What could this password be or how can i get into my computer. I heard i need a recovery disk but i don't see what that has to do with anything. Please help me out.

Did you try "Radioshack"?. Also that laptop is NOT brand new! GO BACK THERE ASAP Return it.That laptop was used and Radioshack didn't check if it was password protected.There could be viruses on it. I'd buy from Circuit City or Best Buy instead.
turn your laptop off then turn it upside down unscrew the panels off under neath till you find a large watch battery pop it out then put it back in it should reset yr password to the default settings hope this info helped............
