Can you install a 2nd internal sound card in a Gateway M-Series laptop if the original is on the motherboard?

Laptop was plugged into an old mixer sound system via the headphone jack and although there was no big shock or anything, just a big hum after the connection was made, it blew our soundcard, even though everything is up to 100 with nothing muted and so on. We reinstalled drivers and troubleshooted to kingdom come but then realized the soundcard was shot. Original one is on the motherboard, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's a slot for a second internal one on the laptop and how to do it. Most informative answer gets best.
