How do i play a DVD on my laptop and watch on my TV?

i have a gateway M-series laptop and a JVC television. i want to be able to play movie on my laptop and watch it on the TV. how do i do that?

1. Look on the laptop for a small round socket with 4 holes in it. This is an S-Video outlet. Most laptops have one. If you connect that to the S-Video input of the tv set (most tellys have one as a camcorder connector) then you'll be able to watch the computer's picture on telly. Sometimes you have to press the F4 key a few times to activate the computer's video aoutput. If the computer has a VGA socket (the one with pins in 3 rows) then you can connect that to the tv if it has an identical socket. The better tv sets do have this. In both cases you'll have to use a separate lead to carry the sound.
