Why won't my DVD play the special features for the computer when I insert it into my computer?

I have a Gateway MX6959 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition on it and when I insert the special features disc into my DVD-ROM drive it doesn't detect the special computer features part and only plays the movie. The drive that I put it into is called a DVD-ROM/R/RW drive......could that be the problem?? That is the only place I can put the disc into though. Also my InterActual DVD Player doesn't work right either on my laptop.

1. You should be able to stop the movie and browse to the dvd player through "My Computer" and open the autorun file to get to the special features.
