What is the proper way to dispose of old and broken computer parts eg: monitors, motherboards, etc?

I have many old parts from old computers and things I have replaced on one of my newer computers. I have a HUGE box of parts but don't know the correct way to dispose of them. Any suggestions?

1. most should go to your recycle centre as transistors contain toxics so as to be disposed of.
2. well give it to me hehehehe.(joke) donate it to your local recycle center/JUNK SHOP and sell it to them. and you just earn some extra bucks!! then buy whatever you want buy some pc parts etc. and treat me for some burgers hehehehe(joke)
