- Outside of recognized freecycle sites, there is no such thing as a free computer part. LOL Oh well, Arctic Silver is sending me a free sample tube of Lumiere, but that is the only free I've seen since way back when Jobs was giving away Apples to elementary schools. ...although a friend of mine found a complete, functional system in a dumpster at the University when the undergrads. were bailing out for the summer. I used to volunteer at the local Food Pantry and I can tell you that more people give away crap than good stuff...you are far more likely to see cans of creamed asparagus, crappy USDA orange juice (tastes awful), of 73 varieties of Hamburger/Tuna Helper than they are to donate some Newman's Own Pasta Sauce. I give good stuff away, but that is because I feel blessed to have been given a lot of great stuff in my life (no, I don't want a hero badge!). Others might not share that view.
- free parts? i don't believe anythings free. at the most maybe you can get stuff from people you know, but thats if they don't want money for it. good luck finding free parts! try ebay for super cheap parts....
- Dell has a program in the New York area call Dell Reconnect. People donate old computers to Goodwill locations for recycling. Maybe you can contact them. Goodwill or Dell ?
- Don't about free, but going to yard sells and produce nice computers cheap. I have bought several for $20 or less and they work great. I have even sold them for nice profit. And that makes mine free.
- Look on craigslist for super cheap and sometimes free computer stuff. Also look in the Goodwill stores and the Volunteers of America Thrift Stores for cheap computers. Finding free stuff is going to be difficult.
