Why are gateway computers cheaper than others? Considering buying a gateway.?

I'm considering to buy the gateway laptop P-6860FX, FX series, and the specs are phenomenal for the price compared to other laptops, and gateways in general are cheaper. So why are gateways cheaper and is the laptop i'm thinking of getting good for that price and is anything wrong with that. 1. Because they are crap. get a MacBook if you are a student. Your discount will get you 10% off.
2. It's probably a sale or a deal. If you're lucky, you can catch those on most websites. There's nothing wrong with finding one of those, I suggest buying it fast. [If you're considering buying a less bulky website, http://www.newegg.com and http://www.cyberpowerpc.com are good places to find cheap and good laptops. The first one has pre-mades, the second one you can customize.] To the guy below, don't suggest people buy Macbooks. You criticize Gateway for being crap, when you suggest an Apple product to people? What a hypocrite. Apple is notorious for overpricing laptops, over 1k more when they have similar specifications to a laptop 1k less. They charge you 1000 dollars for software that you probably won't use. Doesn't matter how you look if you got nothing in the head.
