Do you find that Dell laptops use poor quality, cheap hardware?

Sony Vaio and Gateway offer very good quality laptops, but Dell seems to attract the media attention most, so they are able to market themselves successfully. What do you think?

1. Yes, all main brands are crap. Most of the parts for each brand are made in the same factories. They are all the same.
2. yeah that's kind of true, but I guess with their price and their look that just says "you can drop me from 100 stories and I'll be just fine" it's the perfect kid computer. im using a SONY right now.
3. yes most Dell computers are not good. The lower end Dells are especially bad. and the higher end ones are alright. But I suppose you pay for quality.
4. the only reason they do so good with marketing is because they know <u>HOW</u> to market. they have good commercials that grab attention. their computers are not any better than gateway or sony...though, Ive heard sony and gateway have horrible customer service. Ive decided from now on, I'm building my own computers so that I don't have to deal with dell, gateway or any of them or their customer service. the best computer is one thats built from scratch and not in a factory.
5. Well I don't agree I have a cheap Dell lapper here i am using to post this it is 3 years old never a blip its as fast as the day i got it
6. they all are cheep and will break easy so just get a mac alot better
7. Have never really liked Dell, everyone uses the least expensive parts that they can get because it is all about the money. That said I have found that HP has a very good technical support system with knowledgeable tech support people that make it easy to use and has a good deal less runaround than I had from Dell or Gateway.
8. Yes, thats true. Dell laptops aren't as tough as they look, and Acers aren't as weak as they look either.
9. Yes they do use cheap hardware. But at a cost which they provide laptop and support, no body else can. They have higher end laptops as well. Costly and very good quality. 10. Dell is absolute crap. If your looking for a laptop go MAC www.mac.com They ARE a little more expensive but the quality pays off. Dell can offer junk $500 LAPTOPS cause their made out of nothing but old, low quality junk that newbies become conned into buying..\ Do the right thing, go with mac.
11. I have a dell and i love it but in my opinion all laptops can be good as long as your willing to pay for the better ones
