Do I need a sales receipt for my warranty on a Gateway Laptop?

It is only 2 months old but I need to sell it because I need cash. I bought it really cheap on sale but I am going to sell it for more than I paid for it but don't want to have to give the buyer the receipt so they see what I paid. Don't computer companies just need the serial number if you are acting on the warranty?
