Would you consider buying a Gateway laptop over a Dell if all else were equal but the Gateway was cheaper?

- If everything is equal, EVERYTHING, and the Gateway is cheaper? Of course! I'm not gonna pay more money if I don't have to.
- I work in the IT field and have dealt with both Gateways and Dells. I prefer Dells because I believe they are more reliable and if they break down for any reason that the Dell support is great. I've also always just considered Gateway as a cheaper computer. With computers/technology in general I think you get what you pay for.
- That would be tough. Gateway hasn't exactly been leading in customer service and should something go wrong with your computer you do want to have someone to go back to with your problems.
- Dell customer support got so bad they had to bring their business customer support back in to the US because they were ticking off some of their biggest clients. Dell still has their standard support based in India/Pakistan so I give it no higher mark than any other is not worse. For a horror story I can tell you one of my customers with a 4 hour silver contract with Dell found out that the 4 hours starts from the time Dell decides it's a hardware failure and does not count the 30 hours of support calls. Gateway use to be top notch and they have made some major company changes lately to try and get back on their game. I have considered their convertable tablet over all the other tablets and I'm just waiting/hopiing to see SATA drives in a tablet before I buy.
- buy da dell
