gateway laptop powers up and fan runs, but absolutely nothing happens on screen...?
Its a newer gateway i just picked up cheap. wondering if there is a more common problem ie: screen itself, cable to the screen, or the inverter? Matter of fact, it doesnt sound much like the processor is accessing any info from the hard drive because it is just the constant sound of the fan running, not the odd buzzing of the hard drive reading info... maybe its not screen related at all... anyone been there before?

- that happened to a desktop pc of mine, its fried man, also gateways suck balls, i have one and it crashes on me constantly, i've had it for less than a year and its crashed on me at least 10 times including just a couple of days ago
- Yes, most of the time, if it's the screen, it's going to be the inverter, the backlight lamp, or the CCFL, and you will still be able to see the display(although may be extremely faint). Also it's not the Hard Drive, because if it was you would probably get a Blue Screen of Death, or at leat the screen would appear to be on, but blank.. What happens if you insert a restore CD(or any other)? Does it try to read it, or does i jus sit there? Does the CD tray even open?
