Gateway Parts

Where can I get a cheap hard drive for my laptop?

My computer has crashed, and I need to get a new hard drive for it. I own a Gateway MT6711 Notebook. It has a 160 GB 5400 RPM SATA hard drive, and Windows Vista. I need a good place online to get one. I am a sophomore college student, so I don't have a lot of money to spend on it. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

  1. Check www.newegg.com, they have great prices on all things computer. I just bought 4GB of additional memory for $39. The same thing was going to $80 on HP.com, just as a reference.
  2. Newegg.com
  3. tigerdirect at http://www.tigerdirect.com or newegg at http://www.newegg.com Most modern laptops uses a 2.5" hard drive with a sata connection. Although if you never got a restore or backup disk for the OS, you might have to buy a new OS diskor contact your manufactuers to give you one. Both ways it costs money. Or you can try a freeware linux OS such as ubuntu at http://www.ubuntu.com
