Where Can I find a CDRW+DVDRW drive for my solo5300 laptop cheap?

I have a gateway solo 5300 laptop, I'm in desperate need of a cd burner, would also like dvd burning combined - basically a drive that reads and records any and all media onto a disk. Because the laptop is older it's got a 1.0 usb connection which is too slow for an external drive, something happened to the pcmcia slot so a card adapter is out as well. I just need to get my data off this computer asap does anyone know where I could find a drive like that - even refurbished or OEM for under 40$? I can't use ebay, my paypal account is all messed up because I lost the email addy for it and it won't let me re-register my account info, tech support couldn't help me. Anything else?
