How do you remove the harddrive from a gateway w730-k8x laptop?

I have a gateway w730-k8x laptop, my son pulled it from table, while it was running, a few weeks later it wont boot windows, says its missing some file. I took it in the guys says probably the hard drive and he can fix it for 75 + 25 labor, but he wants to fix everything on the laptop, claims that is their policy. That would mean about $600 worth of parts and labor, so I am going to attempt it myself. I know some about working on a personal computer, but have been unable to open the case for the laptop. I have searched gateway and other sites, but as it is an older laptop (apprx. 2004) I cannot find any guides on it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

3. Go to Gateway.com and find the manual for your laptop. Just put your serial number in the box and it should find it for you. http://support.gateway.com/support/default.aspx The hard drive is either held in by a screw on the back of the laptop and the hard drive slides out the side or it is located under a cover on the back of the laptop. If you can operate a screwdriver, you can replace the hard drive. Good Luck
