Gateway Parts

Hi, how do i know if a power supply will fit in my computer?

I've been trying to upgrade my computer's power supply, so i can upgrade my computer's video card. i bought a power supply and it did fit inside of the computer, but the part of the power supply that is supposed to come out on the outside, so i can put the power cord inside was on the wrong side so i couldn't fit it in. (If you click the link,on the picture showing the back of the computer, it is the part on the upper left where you plug in the power cord.) 1. Power supplies are correlated according to the mother board in your computer. If you have an ATX style motherboard, then you will need an ATX power supply. Almost all newer computers (last 3 years) are ATX compatible. To find out, contact your manufacturer to find out which style motherboard you have. Go to newegg.com to buy it.
