  1. you don't need to upgrade or do anything unless your power supply is less than 200 watts
  2. What is that default power supply unit and why do you think you need another separate one? Throw in those details to get the answers.
  3. Your answer is yes, go upgrade.... Power Requirements for 9600GT: 600W Minimum Power Supply 6-Pin Power Connectors Operating System Requirements: Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft Windows Vista Expansion Slot Requirements Available PCI-Express Bus Slot
  4. I've never had to change the original PSU on a computer even after using it for years. If you get a powerful enough one when you get the computer, it should be good. What is the wattage on your current PSU? I think a 9600gt requires 400w, so you need at least that to power the card and everything else on your computer.
  5. The 9600GT does NOT require a 600W power supply - it draws a maximum of 61W (512mb version) and runs happily on 400W power supplies. If your system's stock psu is 400W or higher, there's no need to upgrade.
