What Power supply should I get for computer?

Hi, I am just ordering new parts for another computer and was wondering what power supply should I get. By the way, the computer is not for gaming. I have a 500 watt thermaltake power supply but don't know if I need one with higher wattage. Here is the main stuff for the computer: OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB DDR2 1066 Ram, AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION Agena 2.6GHz 140W Quad-Core Processor, Nvidia 8500, 1 7200 RPM harddrive, 1 dvd burner, and thats about it. I am not sure about the motherboard exactly but it would be an highend motherboard. Thanks!

  1. 500watts should be plenty.
  2. If you don't plan to add anything, that's fine. I'd suggest upgrading to something a little higher as it seems that you will most likely adding fans, another hd or peripheral devices. Get what you can afford.
  3. Right now, I think you are good. However, if you ever do think about adding another HDD, another CD or DVD drive, or especially another 8500 for SLI, I would highly recommend going to a higher one. I personally have a 680 watt power supply and can run my gaming PC with 2 7200 RPM HDDs, Phenom 9600 OC'd, 4 GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 260 fine. You should be set.
