Are gateway laptops a good brand?

I want to buy a laptop for my daughter who is entering high school next year and she will probably have it until the end of high school. Are gateways good? Also, she really wants a pink one with a glossy inside, does anyone know if gateway still has that?

1. I believe Gateway has partnered with Acer. They're decent... probably considered middle of the road, but often a really good bang for the buck. I'm not sure about pink, but they probably have pink... Check out Acer brand laptops as well. Acer has a cute ultra-portable netbook (Aspire One)) HP has a lot of designer laptop styles too.
2. They are really good for the money. You can find a pink gateway laptop by simply searching for it on google. The one I saw was directly from amazon and around 650 bucks. That seems like a pretty decent price for the laptop shown.
3. Yep gateway laptops are great.Not sure about the pink, sorry. Here's some good brands Asus laptops are pricy, but have sick graphic cards so if she wants to edit videos or game then that's good.Also if she drops it you are covered because most have free 1 year accidental coverage and 2 year factory part warranty.For some reason only the asus laptops sold by www.newegg.com and www.amazon.com offer those warrantys.The ones at best buy do not. Try going for Asus Sony Samsung Hp Gateway Acer Avoid Dell(Some say it's good, but personally i have bad feelings about them) Compaq emachines Apple I know i forgot some brands so if ya got any questions feel free to email me. 4. are you going to be using just to go on the internet or for games? If you are using it to use the internet then it is fine but if you use it for gaming then i would go alienware for that
5. I have a gateway, and as for durability (if this computer will leave the home alot, you might want to think about a better brand... Dell, Toshiba, or Sony). Our university carried Gateways to offer to students because they were a better $ option than the Dell's they carried....well last semester they went back to dell because of all of the issues people had with Gateway. They're not awful, but if u can afford another $100, I'd get a comparable one with a better brand.... u might wanna research HP, but I'm not 100% sure of their quality, but never hearing a bad thing...is sometimes a good thing.
6. I think yes gateway laptops are a good brand. But i think you should go for Sony Viao they are very nice and decent laptops having a good color range of laptops so they are best for you.
