Know how to reset a Gateway Laptop from scratch?

I have about a 4 year old Gateway laptop, came with everything on it. Although, i never got a disk or information on how to reset it from scratch if needed. Im currently looking to reset it from scratch because of how slow it is, hoping if i have some kind of MAJOR cookie or something that is slowing it down that I cannot find, that it will just completely delete it. Thanks if someone can answer! -gm0 Forgot to mention, i have Windows XP operating system on it. I keep on finding downloadable boot disks, but they all are on floppy boot disks. I created boot disks on cd's but everytime i use it on the system reboot. It says something about not having the atmosphere to do it.

1. Get a Windows XP re-boot disc. If you don't know how to install it then have someone do it for you.
