Are there other computer screens compatible with gateway computers?

We have a gateway screen that quit working and i went to find a new one for my mom to order and started reading the reviews and they are bad so we have decided to try to get a computer screen from a different company. So I am curious if there are other brands that we could use or are we stuck with Gateway?

1. As long as the monitor you are buying has the same video port as your Gateway computer, it will work. So if your Gateway has say a 15-pin D-shaped VGA connector, it will work with any monitor that uses that connector.
2. You can use any brand you want, just as long as it has a compatible connection. Such as, I'm guessing you have VGA, but there's also DVI too. Just look on the back of your computer and see what kind of connection it has: This picture explains it all: http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/athome/images/moredone/dualmonitor_02.jpg although don't worry if you have a S-Video on yours, or if you just have one of the connections shown. Anyway, VGA is the (old/regular) analog connection and DVI is the newest digital standard. If you just have one or the other, be sure you get a monitor that will support what you have - VGA or DVI. Hope this helps! P. S. Even though VGA is older, you'll still have about the same quality as DVI. DVI is just slightly better is all.
