can i upgrade power supply (psu) and graphics card, without having problems with other parts of computer.?
i am thinking of upgrading my power supply (psu) as i want to have ATI HD radeon 4350 and i want to replace it with 4850 or 4870. my specs are intel G31 motherboard and core 2 quad 8200 and 3 GB ram and currect power supply is 300 watts and the make is dell inspiron 545.

- always tricky replacing parts on a Dell (or any branded machine) as they often use custom parts that don't follow standardised sizes. But apart from that there should be no problems, unless of course you make a mistake.
- you should have no issues with the other parts of your computer. just be sure you get a psu with enough graphics card connectors for the 4870, if you go that route, as it requires two 6-pin connections.
- Ofcourse u can. The 4870 uses around 500W i think, so its best if u take atleast 650W psu, and be sure to match the amp ratings of the 4870 with the psu's 12V rails
- try to get a 600W to 650W power supply of a reputable brand which comes in a box. Also check the amps rating of the +12V rail matches with the graphics card specs.
