Gateway Parts

Are Gateway laptops any good mean are they up there with Dell, Hp, Sony etc?

To be more precise what are your thoughts on Gateway T-6836

1. I think Gateways are really great computers i have to gateway desktops and i have had no issue with them at all. As for sonny they are way over priced and they heat up to much. HP is good but the only issue i have heard is with there sound cards in the laptop models, they tend to stop working even after u do the driver updates. I like Gateways and Toshiba, they are both mad well and are not as expensive as dell and Sony are and u can get a faster computer for a little less money the Dell and Sony. Plus dell's customer service does not do a great job at helping people.
2. I don't care for Gateways personally I had two of them both totally different have something crap out on me I had the first in 2000 and months after purchasing the modem died. Then fast forward to 2004 I purchased another that ended up with a faulty power supply and then my wireless keyboard and mouse died. But since then I have 3 HP's two desktops and 1 laptop and they've been great no hardware failures or anything. So no in my opinion Gateway isn't up there with HP,Dell, or Sony.
3. I still go for Dell
4. My gateway laptop is three years old. I also have a new HP. I have a bad battery it will not keep a charge. I had a bad virus that made the computer run slow. Same said virus made it impossible to hear the audio on DVD's however it would play CD's ?. I had the laptop restored outside of the bad battery it is running fine. Even with problems above I would rather have my gateway than a dell. I would rather buy another HP than a gateway. So I guess I am recommending HP.
