Gateway Parts

I have a Gateway T-series Laptop that continually Freezes?

Have a Gateway T-Series Laptop with Vista Home Premium on it that continually freezes... no matter what I am doing (browse internet, working in programs, or just downloading pics from phone). I have ran all programs that I can possible find and trust and have found nothing wrong with the computer program and internal wise. Which leads me to think that its overheating or the power supply is causing this too? I am really at a loss and the fact that I can do much without freezing is really irritating to the point of getting something new? Anyone with this computer have the same issue???

  1. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY GATEWAY T SERIES LAPTOP!!! I have had the same issues with it too!! I called costomer service and gateway said i had a motherboard issue and to send it in. I had to replace a dead harddrive (hitachi) the powercord cos it got to hot and stopped working, and i had to get more ram. Its doing better now but now the bottom is falling off...literally. I would get a new laptop if i were you...i got mine at the same time my brother got an Acer and it NEVER had a problem. Oh this is my second one...my first one i took back to best buy and they were so astonished how slow the computer booted up.. I think they should recall these laptops and give us our money back.
  2. There may be several reasons why your computer may be freezing. First question is when was the last time you cleaned your registry. Having a corrupted registry can cause a whole host of errors and problems. Freezing up is one of them. If you have a lot of unnecessary registry keys that are hogging up your computer resources. Your computer is bound to choke. Scan your registry with a good registry cleaner. If you pull up more than 20 errors or duplication, clean your registry. 2. Depending on your RAM specs and your computer usage. This could also be a the issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM by net surfing or other activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don't need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory. The below link will show you how. 3. Spyware could be the culprit, so do a scan and see if your computer is infected. 4. Another area is a hardware drivers. This could be the problem if new hardware has been added to the system. So, the drivers should still be up to date. So try the first two suggestion and see if you can get your computer to stop freezing. Check your drivers. 5. Lastly, check the dust buildup on the fan to make sure you system is cooling properly http://www.delete-computer-history.com/fix-computer-freezes.html
