Gateway Solo 9550 Safe Mode?

How do you boot a Gateway Solo 9550 Notebook Computer in Safe-Mode??? Please do not say F8. It doesn't work. Thanks

1. Can you define "doesn't work"? Pressing F8 is built in to Windows as the way to bring up the boot menu, including the "safe mode" option. Perhaps you are pressing F8 too soon, or too late, for it to be seen? I find that pressing F8 once or twice a second from the time the boot screen appears, until the boot menu appears, works for every computer I have ever tried it on. Unless you have some "special" keyboard that simply isn't recognized by the BIOS, and requires Windows to be loaded to be used, I see no reason why you can't use F8 as designed. Can you use the keyboard to get into the BIOS setup? But, I suppose as a "last resort" method, you can reboot the computer while Windows is loading, forcing the "Windows didn't finish booting the last time" warning, and forcing the boot menu to appear. However, I don't recommend such brute-force be used, as there is the remote chance of causing some damage. - kb -
