Gateway Parts

How much do old computer parts usually cost?

I'm just wondering, because I've been thinking about building my own computer from old parts from local computer stores.

  1. You would save money and headaches buy buying a working used one and improving on that with more memory better video and audio cards etc.
  2. it depends on the parts, for eg. old processors dont yield a good bargain but something like a DVD writer will, Mainly it depends on how the technology used in that particular part, has evolved, if it has changed a lot, then prices will be low for old ones and vice versa
  3. Don't bother mate. There is a reason why people don't use the parts anymore, outdated and obsolete. Instead of spending alot of time and about €300 making a peice of erm..you know. Spend €500 on a basic standard run'o the mill comp. And you'll already have a better one. Then just do what I usually do with em, slowly put little bits and peices and shiny doohickeys on em, and then sell it for a much larger price. Or keep it, either way it is far more feasible to do that.
  4. Wow. ive never thought about building a computer from old parts.. that would be kinda hard searching for the right size and a good speed of the processor to match up with the motherboard and all that... lol but eh, id say it all depends on how fast you would want to make it.. when i want to build a computer, i get all my parts from a store named Microcenter.. the parts are really cheap.. i built my own computer and bought all my parts there.. you should check out the site and see if theres any local stores in your area. I recommend you take a quick look in their site. http://microcenter.com/ Good Luck ;)
  5. Try going to computer swap meets. You will get better prices and might find some bargains on some systems. ~
