Where's the best place to get electronic parts?
In the past I would just buy any electronic parts that I needed from my Computer Engineering teacher at school for discounted prices (since the school orders huge amounts at a time), but unfortunately I have run out of some things that I need (resistors & logic gates, mainly). I know that my school orders from a company called DigiKey, but I'd rather not have to order the parts (they don't have any nearby suppliers, either). So I was wondering where the best places would be to find electronic parts, as I've yet to find any nearby places that cater solely to electronic parts. Are there any larger companies that sell what I need? What kinds of stores would likely carry these things?

- Jameco electronics? If you are in a BIG town Fry's MIGHT have what you need(crosses fingers)
- I'm afraid there are not many store front electronics places left these days. There is always Radio Shack that still caries some stuff ... but that's about it. DigiKey is a good place. So is JameCo, Mouser, All Electronics, Newark and others ... but they are all mail order. http://www.digikey.com/ http://www.jameco.com/ http://www.mouser.com/ http://www.allelectronics.com/ http://www.newark.com/ You might also 'run' your city on the search page for Velleman (the electronic kit people) dealers. http://www.vellemanusa.com/us/enu/dealer/search/ Any store that sells their stuff probably sells other electronic parts. Good luck! P.S. This might be a stretch since you don't want mail order ... but if you are looking to stock up on resistors, capacitors, etc., this is a cheap, but reliable Chinese web store. I have used them a few times and always got what I ordered. http://www.sureelectronics.net/index.php
