Are Gateway Laptops That bad?

Are Gateway laptops really that bad, all the reviews i have read say they are bad machines anybody had any experience with them or know anything about it

1. I am actually on one right now! We've had it for more than a year I'd say and it works very well. It's cheaper and works great. I heard those rumors too and decided to take a chance purchasing it and am very pleased with what I have. I've had no problems with it since! :)
2. I've had a Gateway Solo 5300 for more than 5 years and it's still going strong. It's running WindowsME (the version that came with it) and I use it primarily for playing my older games that won't/can't work with XP or Vista. I originally purchased it for work-related projects and -- aside from replacing the battery a few years ago -- can't think of even one problem that I had with it.
