- If I could afford one I would like a Mac laptop...those skinny ones the size of a legal envelope...
- I have had 2 Gateways, have never had any problems. I guess it is a matter of opinion.
- My nephew has one. cheap and powerful. Only problems he has with it is software related. When it breaks he uses the restore disc and puts it back to factory settings. He's a kid so he downloads torrents and World of Warcraft add-ons and stuff so he prolly gets viruses and messed up programs. haha. He doesn't admit it and say he's careful, but in the end, a system restore does the trick so it's gotta be him. heh. Most PC's physically break a little easier because much of them are made to be cheap due to competition. Not just Gateway. One thing I would presume however, is that many people think it's the hardware, when it's really a software problem and some people don't know about the restore or read the manual etc. Then they blame the manufacturer, while it's them who are newbs and get viruses etc. The thing about malicious software is that often they leave no trace (even for pros to find). Then they get a new computer and by that time they know a little better and don't get those viruses, or mess it up "by accident", and say..."Now I got a Viao and it's sooo perfect" because they also payed a lot for it so they are more careful. When you pay peanuts for a product, you don't read the manual and don't give a crap. When you break the bank...you make sure you know every single detail about your product. And you know what? I'm sorry but I've been to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. and these Geek Squad type people don't know jack. It's easier for them to just swap your unit than debug it and they will give you loads of BS when they don't know the real answer. These people work at a retail outlet at hourly wages out of high school...not in Microsft R&D or something! Think about it!
