- Asus sells some excellent computers that range from netbooks to gaming. You will never find a compnay with more notebooks, and you will never find a more reliable company. Dell also has good warranties and they stay true to thier word. Actually, I would recommned Dell if not just for thier excelllent replacement services.
- I would suggest a netbook (typically around 200-400 dollars). They have between a 7-10 inch screen, 1-2gb or ram, windows xp, 100-200gb hdd. Pretty good for basic stuff, like writing, email, internet (no hardcore gaming). Every major brand has a netbook, Lenovo (IBM), Dell, Fujitisu, Sony...
- Dell Inspiron 15, you can get one for $350 Brand new.
- HP Pavillion http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NPDKW6?ie=UTF8&tag=werner.extension.attic.step.ladder.for.sale-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001NPDKW6
- HP's Compaq line has some great computers that are fairly cheap. You can get one for about $350 or so. Acer ad Asus make cheap ones too.
- I highly recommend looking into buying a refurbished laptop. They are very close to brand new but at used prices. You can get find a lot of refurbished laptops on ebay and at other online outlets. If refurbished is not your cup of tea then i suggest a laptop made by either Asus or Toshiba.
