Are Gateway laptops reliable?

Are Gateway laptops reliable? I heard bad things from when my aunt had one but that was back in the mid 90's so i was wondering if they last

1. yes...anything except dells last for a while....
2. we still have a gateway desktop from 2004 and it never even crashed
3. No. I've seen three desktops go kaput for no reason while fairly new and I can't imagine their laptops are any better. I don't know anybody who has had a positive experience with Gateway.
