Do computer hardware reviewers keep the parts they review or return it?

- They have to return them. They only get them to review (but maybe they do get a cheap offer after the test). But as bigger and more popular the tester is, I am sure they get a lot of free samples (such as Engadget)
- Both. In most cases, they have to return the product(s), but there are times where they are allowed to keep the item(s) or purchase them. Often, the parts are beta versions that they generally would rather return anyway. This is from my personal experiences as a system builder, tester, and RMA (return materials authorization) supervisor for two computer companies.
