Gateway Parts

Computer Help! I have a Gateway and the plug broke in back!?

Part of my plug in for my laptop broke off inside. The center thing is stuck in there. Should I pull it out or just leave it in there and try to keep plugging it in and just moving it around till it connects? Can I just buy a new cord if I pull that piece out? Do you know about how much it will cost?

  1. Yeah. Buy a new cord.
  2. Pull it out ONLY after you removed the battery, than buy a new charger.
  3. take it to a shop and have it looked at
  4. You will need to get it out with out damaging the other part a pair of needle nose pliers will do make shure the battery is out. (just in case) When it is out you will need to find out why it broke and if the socket is ok. If not you will be looking at the price of a new charger ($30.00) and the price of repairing the Socket on the laptop ($100.00) price are a guide only.
