Is there a way to recover my computer in working order withOUT deleting everything on it? Recover XP? HELP?
I have the Recover XP disk and it's helped me before wit another computer, and I have used it on this gateway laptop as well. I don't remember what I've done before but I booted it up before and got to a part where it asked if I wanted to continue, and if I did it would mean that all of my computer's data would be lost. I answered no but when I went back to my desktop all of the problems were fine. BUT NOW WHEN I DO THAT, IT'S NOT WORKING! MY DESKTOP JUST KEEPS DISAPPEARING AND RE-APPEARING! AND THAT'S THE PROBLEM I'M TRYING TO FIX! Did I do something that I don't remember? Is there a way to recover my computer with this disk without erasing everything? And no, my system restore doesn't have any points to go back to so don't even bother typing that.

- Use system recovery. it restores your computer back to when you first got it, without deleting anything. if you have an XP, when you first start up the computer, i'm pretty sure you press F8 or F12 on the top of your keyboard. one of those keys goes to system recovery. :)
- I had the same problem. Below is a link to a site that helped me, step by step, inserting the XP CD, doing a REPAIR. Also, I downloaded and installed the free version of Advanced SystemCare from IOBIT. This program is super, it will check your system, your disk, etc. I would advise you to get the Advanced SystemCare and let it check your system, the link to the site is below. Hope this may have helped you.
- in safe mode F8 run malwarebytes anti-malware and SUPERAntispyware, and what they find you delete it manually. then run ccleaner to clean your pc, and mvregclean, to clean registry. what mvregclean find you remove because the key is there but not the file ,folder or program. even you reformat and it finds anything remove dont be afraid. dont forget when you install this software to update them, and do an update every day m
