  1. You really need to build your own PC to do that. Most manufacturers now use parts that are not really upgradable. You can perform minor upgrades to memory and storage, but changing the motherboard or processor are really out of the question.
  2. In desktop an upgrade is always associated on the design just select the latest series of their motherboards that can accommodate upgrade for some future lined up concepts of development still in the drawing board.
  3. Before you buy the computer get the model number check with support ask if this computer model number the cpu processor is upgradable. Hope this helps. webitss
  4. The motherboards in a proprietary computer like an HP or Dell are not designed to be upgraded. Often they only support the processors that were offered as options, or which were included with other similar models using the same motherboard, when the computer was new. Other limitations seem like they are included on purpose. For example, a Dell motherboard that came with a Core 2 Duo processor might not support any Core 2 Quads. Or, an HP motherboard may have a VRM that only supports low-power version processors. Or some manufacturers may simply choose not to release a BIOS update that could potentially allow the motherboard to support newer processors. What this means is, if you wait eighteen months, or two years, before thinking about upgrading your CPU, then adding a CPU from the same era as the original motherboard, that's only a few hundred MHz higher, is going to seem pretty unexciting, and not worthwhile. Thus, most of the time, upgrading a processor effectively in a proprietary computer like an HP or Dell will involve replacing the motherboard and CPU together, or motherboard, CPU, and RAM.
