Computer won't turn on, power supply is fine?
My computer all of a sudden stopped turning on. I swapped the power supply out with one that I know works, and it still doesn't turn on. The inside switch is connected also. Any other ideas for troubleshooting this? I have a "parts" computer available that also quit working right. Thanks!

- Maybe it crashed? Call geeksquad. Lol http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091118171644AAlbM2P
- Well if the power supply isn't being cut off and other electrical devices work properly there, chances are it's one of two things. The power reciever (the part that recieves the electricity from the outlet and powers the computer) is damaged, or your computer has been so completely virused out it quit functioning. Take it to the local computer store, let them have it checked out and i'm sure they'll find something is wrong. If they don't find anything wrong, check the cord connecting the computer to the outlet, or maybe the outlet isn't giving out enough power.
- Probably a mobo problem or power supply-->motherboard compatibility problem. If you are certain that everything is hooked up properly (power cable, cable to mobo, ALL cables to drives, HDD, etc.) Than it is most likely a bad motherboard.
- It might be an issue with any of the parts, really. It's most likely that your hard drive has an issue which you may want a certified--yes, certified, not some guy who claims to be good--technician to look at. You may even have to replace the hard drive. Another possible issue could be memory. Of course, anything could be the problem--a loose socket, or other minuscule detail that an amateur might miss. Hope this helps!
- Yes I've had this problem before. I've also been to several stores and tried to fix this problem. I don't think there's a solution to this. It might be because your computer is too old or you might have to replace some parts besides the watt supply.
