are dell notebooks worth while?
so i have a kinda old compaq computer, that has broken. and the part to plug in and charge it is broke and the batt. is stuck, to make a long story short, its going to cost about 300$ to fix, and so i thought for that price i was thinking maybe i should just get a dell notebook? any advice? just some back ground i really dont use my computer for alot, i just normally use it for surfing the web, i watch a few web videos, like youtube and such, and a little bit of porn lol, and then i to some internet research, and then typing programs, i dont normally watch alot of dvds, so now having the dvd drive wouldnt be a big deal, and i also have a jump drive what i save all my papers on, and i could always buy the external dvd drive later if i wanted or save up money to fix my other computer later down the road, so knowing all the should i just pay to have my current laptop fixed or get a dell notebook? which would be the better option? please help!

- No I bought a notebook and returned it in 3 days. You can get a good laptop around 300-400 though. Try Wal-mart, Office Depot or something like that.
- Dell computers, in my experience are not worth it. Both my brothers received one as a graduation gift, and not even a week later they were both back in the shop. Also I've had a few of my friends with similar situations. Dell is worthless. You don't seem to use your computer for matters other than just free time, so I would go with a Vaio. It's a lot more reliable than dell, although it's not top of the line and sometimes there are problems. But in comparison, the Vaio will be much more suitable especially for just the every day surfing the web. Hope this helps. -Melissa
- well my neighbour has a dell laptop and they are constantly replacing the charger and battery. the laptop is kind of junky as well. not sure, up to you. i have an LG laptop and it is great. fast, tough and sleek .
- NEVER BUY A DELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my first computer was a dell laptop that i used for about 1.5 yrs before the trackpad stopped working completely. a few months later the hard drive burned out. when i took it in to geek squad the guy told me that dell doesnt distribute its parts, if u want to upgrade, say ur video card, u can only buy it from dell. also they're over priced. when my first crashed, i initially decided it was just a fluke and started building a new one on the website. with all the features i wanted,a halfway decent laptop would have cost ove 1000$ instead i got a toshiba with all the same features and some better ones for only $600 (on sale reg price $800) the toshibas been working fine for 3yrs and counting. ive also heard that HPs are good. Mac makes great products but they're pretty expensive and i've found that Mac compatible software, like Microsoft office is more expensive then the PC version.
- get a new one. if your going to spen that much anyway. plus itll just end up costing you more down the road. also, i wou strongly reccomend getting a dvd drive. it probabbly wont be that much more, and it will be nice to have. trust me.
