  1. It was just released on October 22 with the launch of Windows 7 & I purchased one that day. I spent about a month researching notebooks to find one that suited my needs the best. I think this one is the best value for the specs that will find. It has a 17.3" screen, Core 2 Duo T6600 chip, 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive. I knew I wanted a C2D and found that there is very little difference between the T6600 and the P7xxxx chips, but all notebooks with these upgraded chips are at least $150 more. The other thing to consider is that there is no dedicated graphics card, so if you are going to be using it for a lot of gaming, you probably want to look elsewhere. The only cons I found in the first month are the glossy black finish accentuates every smudge and fingerprint and I don't like the location of the power button. It's housed within the corner hinge of the LCD, which may lead to problems if it is dropped directly on this corner. If you are looking for a high performance, mainstream notebook with a larger than average, multi media display, this is the best one out there. I found that Best Buy has the best deal right now (Nov 2009) at $599.00. Just beware of all the garbage they try to get you to buy along with it. They are selling it for $50 less than you'll find it directly from Gateway because they make their money on the extended warranties, wasteful accessories and tech packages.
