Should I buy this Asus Laptop or this Gateway Laptop?
I intend to replace my old Pc with a nice Laptop that I can bring anywhere. Also I do Flex programming & love watching movies. Both Asus and Gateway Laptop look and have decent reviews. I have a hard time choosing between the 2. Any help would be appreciated. - GATEWAY: Gateway - Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor - NightSky Black Model: NV7802U Has a bigger hardrive and screen compared to the ASUS which is what i mainly look for in a laptop, RAM and the CPU are important to. GATEWAY FTW
- Asus is a better brand
- I was actually in a similar situation between an ASUS and a Gateway, so I consulted my long-time friend with a degree in computer science. He said the Gateway I was looking at had the best graphics card (at the time), but he would NOT vouch for Gateway. He recommended the ASUS with the second best graphics card at the time, taking this graphics loss to avoid Gateway. With all this, I think it's safe to say if someone who is more than familiar with computers cannot vouch for Gateway, it's not a good idea. From looking at the specs, you're not losing much more than less HDD space, which would be a RIDICULOUS reason to pick the Gateway over the ASUS. It's a simple remedy of buying an external HDD. An external is easier to get than to replace a not-so-well-made laptop. Although, it doesn't look like the ASUS has a core duo either. Although, you can spend 50 bucks more with Newegg and get the Core Duo processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220663 Long story short: Get the ASUS. Anecdotal evidence, but I love my ASUS and haven't had any problems after two years.
