What type TV can be connected to notebook?

I'm going to buy a new TV set. I want the new TV can be connected to my notebook as an extra momitor, so I can view my pictures from TV screen or watch movies or play games on line, etc. But in the market, there are so many types of TV, such as 'plasma TV', 'LCD TV', 'FULL HD LCD TV', 'HD TV', 'HDMI TV', etc. What type TV I should purchase? Do I need additional parts or components to connect it with my notebook?

1. any one as long as it has the necessary input, such as VGA the laptop must have that too, or DVI, or S-video That may not work if its not supported by the laptop's GPU.
2. You have to get a TV that has a port compatible with what your computer outputs. For instance, if your computer has an output that is VGA you should get a TV that has a VGA port.
