Gateway Alternatives (not wireless) and Gateway Question 2 part question?

I have DSL Internet. I want to know if there are any different ways to connect a device (xbox 360) to the internet without using wireless and without a gateway. Basically, there's a phone line right next to the xbox, and I want to connect it to the phone line. Also, if I buy another gateway for that phone line, will it work and will it cost any more on my internet bill?

1. If you connect multiple device to your Internet connection, you will need a router. A router for the home environment has special software on it that allows multiple computers to connect. It is important that you buy a router and not a switch. Once all ports on your router are used, a switch can add additional wired devices. If you already have a router, you have some options.
