What are the sockets for on the ends of my Compaq Notebook PC and what are they for?

The literature for above is so sketchy one would think that paper was more expensive than hardware. Ap-part from the USB outlets the symbols are meaningless.Can anyone help

1. Seems the webspace available to you is also expensive, so expensive that you can't afford to describe them! How the **** are we supposed to know what your notebook looks like?
