  3. As a former computer business owner (as well as sporting goods), there is no such thing as 'wholesale'. The term you need to familiarize yourself with is VOLUME discount or pricing. You will not find pricing better than the lowest competitive retail pricing unless you have the capital to purchase in volume, not even buying from major distributors. First, all distributors will require proof of a sales tax or resale license/permit, usually from your state. A general business license won't do. The exception is states that have no sales tax, a general business permit/license should suffice. Second, go to the website of the manufacturer whose product you want to sell, then look for a link or information about being an authorized reseller or dealer of their products (e.g. 'Where to Buy' link). If there is no obvious link to this information, just look for a sales or marketing contact for your region and inquire about becoming a reseller. Once you complete their application process, which is usually pro-forma, ask about distribution channel partners if they don't provide you with this information automatically. You then contact those distributors, inquire about or apply for an account. Some established computer and component distributors operating in the United States are Ingram Micro, Tech Data, SED International, Synnex, D&H Distributing, ASI Corp, MA Labs, Bell Micro, and MAX Group. You can also become a member of a trade organization, such as NASBA (Association of Channel Resellers), attend computer industry trade shows to find manufacturers and distributors, or subscribe to a trade publication such as Computer Reseller News (CRN). In order to get a subscription to CRN, you must apply and document that you are in the computer business in some form or capacity. Took me about six months to get my subscription of CRN approved. Again, I cannot stress enough that you should put the notion of 'wholesale' pricing out of your mind and replace it with VOLUME pricing. The more you buy, the cheaper each unit is. Buying in quantities of 10 or less typically yields little (to no) discount. Being an importer is one way to get better pricing, but the import business is risky and requires expertise you probably don't have at this stage. If you did have the expertise to go into the import business, you wouldn't be here asking how to find wholesale computer parts.
  4. go to froogle from google.com because they are the best shopper ever.
