ASUS P50IJ-X1 NoteBook Intel Pentium dual-core T4300(2.10GHz)?

Hi, I'm hoping there are some computer techies out there! I am torn between two laptops. Can you help me decide? I know this is opening up a can of worms, as everyone has their own opinion. I'm extremely cost driven and really I just want it for the convenience/portability. I don't do any gaming so I really don't care about the graphics. I am most interested in surfing the web, email, music, photos, just very basic stuff. So, it really doesn't need to be super fast or top of the line. I will post the specs on both laptops. The acer is $400 at BBuy and the Asus is $440 at Newegg. In regards to the processor, is the 2.0ghz that much better than the 1.2ghz? They are both the same price. The reviews on the Asus mentioned this "the T series cpu's from Intel don't carry the VT (Vanderpool Technology) required to use XP Mode. Only the E series and Q series processors have VT." Can someone explain to me what this means? I read somewhere that Windows 7 Home Premium has this problem, so what I am really interested in knowing, is would I have this same problem with the Acer? I'm hoping to make a decision in the next couple of hours, so please respond if you have any advice. Thanks! 1. I would COMPLETELY recommend the Asus. The main reason is that Acer has the highest hardware failure rate of 2008 and from the looks of it 2009 too. Asus has the LOWEST hardware failure rate. Get the Asus!
  2. Hate to say it but I wouldn't get either of them but if I had too I would get the Asus, but Alienware owns all.
