Restoring my Gateway laptop to factory settings?? Easy 10 pts!!?
I have a Gateway MT6000 series laptop and I foolishly tried downloading a movie y'day and screwed up my laptop. It caught a virus and whatnot and I need to wipe it clean. Now, I have a gateway complete system restore but guess what, that doesn't work now when I try it. So, I did have the operating disc and I'm in the process of installing it. What next? I really need to restore this computer and get it up and running as I have loads of homework due by tomorrow!! Please.... someone help. PS. I'm using a friend's laptop to type this in! Easy 10pts!

- Learn to torrent (for movies). Ugh fuck.... Google your desktop name&model + RESTORE DISK Either download and burn one or buy one. Insert and press F8 while it is starting to boot from the diskzors.
- Once you've installed Windows using the OS disk you'll need to download the drivers for the laptop. You can download them here: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp?cmpid=headerlink Once downloaded start installing them. You'll find it's usually best to install the video and network drivers first. The sound drivers can be installed last. After you've installed the drivers, do a Windows Update to get the latest updates for your software and drivers. Don't forget to install some antivirus software such as Microsoft Security Essentials (Free).
