Rebuilding computer, dell computers question?

Okay so I am planning to rebuild my computer because I need a new video card. Well I have found out that most of the computer part I have will work fine. So my biggest problem is that I don't what the connection is for the mobo i have is. So I was trying to contact dell about what the video card connection is but they were be jerks and so yeah. So the computer I have is a dell Inspiron 530. I got the early (I think) 2008 version. So anyway if you guys can tell me what the connection is or how I can find it. And I don't want any comments on how most are PCI expresses 2.0 (I KNOW) but I want to make sure it is the right connection. It would be bad to spend 300 dollars on a car that is not the right connection.

  1. You need PCI-E. A quick google search for Inspiron 530 video card will turn up a ton of results to confirm this.
  2. i googled your desktop and i did find that it does have a PCIe. Yes you can upgrade the video card using the PCIe slot. Once you do this you will have to upgrade the power supply to run the video card as well. a 500 watt or higher power supply will be needed to run the video card.
  3. PCI-E Here is a pic of them for you to compare.. http://www.entraide-petite-enfance.com/Tutos/CG/PCI-AGP-PCIe.jpg
  4. For a $300 card, I am betting you are going to install an ATI HD 5890 with that. You will need 10-1/2 - 11" of space from the back of the chasis to the hard disk cage. You will need one 12 Volt 6 pin connector coming from the power supply to power the card. That is the "WIRE" you need to have.
