Where to find cheap computer parts?
My boyfriends birthday is comin up (April 28) and he wants this expensive graphic card and i was wondering if there was a place to get one cheaper. I've looked on newegg, tigerdirect etc. And they all are the same price. Around 200 dollars. Any ideas where i could find cheaper ones. Oh he wants a gtx 260.

- Amazon has one http://www.amazon.com/GeForce-448-bi-1998MHz-Graphics-ZT-X26E3KG-FSP/dp/B001MW1LNU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270605956&sr=8-4 You might try buy.com but generally with buying graphics cards if you dont buy a name brand evga asus or whoever you get less quality workmanship but a cheaper price.
- Nope. Around $200 is the market price for that card.... But here is one, after shipping, for $192 http://www.pricewatch.com/gallery/video_cards/geforce_gtx_260 end of line
- Ebay/ Craigslist
- Try here http://www.compuvest.com/Search.jsp?Search=896-P3-1262-AR&advsite=nexttag&dtm=20100406&sku=331006574-02 !69 plus shipping that's $181.88. Talk to him and see if he would be ok with a 250 rather than a 260 which you can buy on ebay for $110.00 with free shipping . Good luck and Happy birthday to him.
- That's a prettty high-end, popular card. It will be around 200 bucks. If he doesn't already have another that he wants to use for SLI... In other words, if he is replacing a video card, not adding a second one... He (you) could get the same performance level, for possibly less money, by getting a HD 4870 instead. They benchmark about the same, are in the same class. The difference is, the one your boyfriend asked for has an nvidia chipset and the HD 4870 has an AMD/ATI chipset. If his system will support (motherboard, power supply) a GTX 260, it will support an HD 4870 as well. It would be risky to make a substitution as a birthday present though. I mean, maybe he really loves nvidia...and there would be nothing wrong with that! Or on the other hand, maybe he doesn't care about nvidia/ATI as long as it works....but how would you find that out without letting him know what he's getting for his birthday? Me, I always bought my own toys. Whenever my girlfriend asked me what I wanted for birthday or Christmas, etc...I would just reply, "YOU, in a big red bow". :) But I think it's great that you would even consider getting this for your boyfriend for his birthday. A man's gotta have his toys.
