Gateway Parts

What parts can make a Laptop faster?

I own two laptops, a regular sized DELL Laptop XPS, and a Mini Acer Aspire Notebook PC. I have de-assembled my DELL laptop completely to fix it, and learn about it. It is now working in good condition. However my mini acer aspire laptop isn't really as fast as the DELL Laptop. I know these types of PC's were not meant for speed, but I wonder if I can make it speed up like the DELL, or maybe take some parts off the dell and put in the acer. I know it's not the ram, and hardrive. Is it the intel core processor? I may not know all of it, but I am still learning. My mini acer aspire has an "intel Atom", 250 Hardrive GB, 2.0 MB of Ram. I like it also because it was first started with Windows 7 Starter, so I upgraded it to Professional... Anyways, is it possible to make these PC's run faster and more capable of playing games better. Please don't tell me to clean it, cleaning it would not solve it, I clean it with disk clean up and defragment. I want to hear an answer from a more wiser and intelligent person who knows about PC parts. I made a mistake when spelling my Ram, I said 2.0 MB LOL I meant "2.0 GB of RAM."

  1. The intel atom is your problem, atom processor are only for mobile pcs. There not that strong of a CPU. You cant change the CPU to a stronger CPU say like the i3 but then your motherboard wont be able to handle it. The best you can do is add more RAM. Windows 7 takes about 1.5 gigs of RAM. If you have 2MB your in a negative range. I strongly suggest you add more RAM about 4 gig in total will do you good. Harddrive doesnt matter that much unless you want to put lot and lots of software on it. Also if you have big bucks, you can install a solid state drive, which will boost your PCs performance by 33% alone. You'll have to look into that yourself though, i dont know if theres SSD's (Solid state drives) for netbooks
  2. It's simply not possible to make a Netbook "Acer Aspire Mini" a lot faster. The the thing is there are 4 components in a laptop that you could "swap" to speed things up 1. Processor 2. Ram memory 3. Video card 4. Hard disk Now let me explain why it's hard to improve the speed of your netbook. The maximum amount of RAM supported by the BIOS of your laptop is 2GB. So you can't put in a 4GB stick, because it will still display 2GB. As for the video card. Your netbook uses an integrated GMA 950. Which is integrated in the chipset. So you can't change that. So you won't be able to game on it. The only way to speed it up is either to buy one of those new Atom processors. I believe they're called the Atom N450/D510. The should be able to speed up CPU intensive programs such as HD video's by 30%+- But it will cost around 100 dollars. Remember core i3/5/7 & Q&T series are NOT supported by your socket. So even if you buy them they're useless. Because it won't fit. Another way to increase your boot-up speed is to replace the hard disk by a SSD. This will increase your boot times. However SSD's are very expensive. They cost about 300-400 dollars. Regards, Ming
  3. Your PC is constantly reading and writing to a registry while you work, or while you are playing games, on it. This all happens in the background without you even noticing. When your PC was new, this was no problem, but the longer you have your computer, the more programs you install on it and the more the registry becomes bloated and damaged. This is the reason that your PC is running slower and might crash all of a sudden without warning. Your computer needs to work hard to go through all the registry bloat, or it might simply crash if it comes across a faulty entry.A registry cleaner will scan and repair your registry.Frequent maintenance using a registry cleaner is crucial to make your computer go faster.I should like to commend Registry Easy http://best-way-to-improve-pc-performance.com to you !
