Gateway Parts

Is there any reason that Gateway might try not to uphold my warranty on my laptop?

I am sure the place that repairs my Gateway Laptop is fair and its obvious when someone damaged their own laptop. My laptop had a smart failure predicted on HD message for two months, I contacted them about it and continued using laptop. Now the HD failed, I have not dropped laptop or damaged it in any way. Is there any possible reason they would try to say warranty doesn't cover the event?? Also about how much would it cost if warranty does not cover it?

  1. If they documented your original call, the no they will not try to get out of covering the warranty repair. Especially if the warranty is still active. Hard Drive failure is covered under a standard computer warranty. If the warranty does not cover it, you are looking at needing a new hard drive, the recovery discs for your Gateway, and the installation of your Operating System. At The Geek Squad, that would be up to $200 for the hard drive (depends on the size though), $200 for installing the Operating System, and probably $50 for the recovery discs... so around $450. end of line
