Computer Formatting Questions Part 2?

Hey, i've already posted 1 question but now i have others. So i will repost my last question, in addition to more. Hey, i have a Gateway laptop. It has been loaded down with a bunch of crap i wanna get rid of, and its really slow. So i want to format my computer, but... I'm unsure on how it all works. I have a windows 7 disc somewhere, and i want to know if i format my computer if i can upload the windows 7 disc to my computer for a second time. It is a free disc that came with the computer cause it was a gateway and they had a special or something. Please help me.. Thanks!! Now when i went to proceed i found my windows 7 folder, 1 problem, there are 2 discs. I was told that i could put the disc into my computer and restart and do a clean install or something. I have tried both discs and none give me the option i was hoping for. I put the first dvd in and it gives me three steps, you are suppose to alternate both cd's for which i'm sure is a security measure of some sort, but the cd you use first and last gives me 3 options the first 2 options are nul they are there but greyed out and i can't do anything, the third option i can, it has a button that says start on it. And that option says something about installing windows 7 or something. Can someone tell me if i can still clean my computer and upload another windows 7 thing with what i have? i have clicked the third option and it starts going like i am loading windows 7 on my computer then it asks if i want to do the recommended option or the advanced option, the advanced option tells me that it won't save any of my files, thats what i want, i want a clean computer, will this have the desired effect i am looking for? If not can someone point me in the right direction please and thank you!!

  1. Your question is rather ambiguous, but I'll do my best to help you understand a few things it seems need to be said. First off, you don't need to worry about the security measures for the discs. Second, you use the discs by restarting your computer with the first disc loaded already and just redo the entire thing. The reason for this is because you've apparently done some careless things on the internet and got yourself loaded down with viruses and such. Back up your docs, emails, and pix TO A CD and then do a restore. After doing the restore, get Firefox or Opera and stop using IE. As much as I like the way IE renders pages (no matter how screwed up the code is) the fact is Microsoft hasn't bothered to secure the browser so you really should consider this STRONGLY. Then restore your docs, pix, and emails. And be more careful on the internet. There are some REALLY NASTY people using it too and they don't care about your documents, pictures, or anything else. Personally, I think it could be the Firefox (or Opera, or Safari) people exploiting IE so much (I find it odd everyone says to ditch IE and then right away recommends FF). So choose your browser carefully. Yeah, I said it. And I'm probably right. Think about it - is Microsoft going to do that to their own program? Obviously not.
