Ordering a MacBook Pro online with student discount, will they check?

Hi. I'm looking to order a new MacBook Pro for Uni in the UK this summer. I would want to get my new computer before uni starts (october 2010) just to get it prepared. I am currently situated in Hong Kong, so overseas shipping will be necessary, and hence, would they check if I am legible for the discount? I will not have my student ID until school starts, so how will I prove that I am legible for the discount if they do happen check? I am also looking to order the baseline printer as part of my purchase (as there's rebate, right?), so how do the rebate stuff work? Do they come in the mail as cash (if so, what currency?) or do they come in cheques (if so, written to the holder of the credit card used to purchase?) ? Only answer from experience, thanks!!

  1. im not sure with the printers but generally they are mail in rebates then you chose if you want cheque etc as far as i know you can order online without being affected by id checks if it is queried do you have a student id number yet . I have ordered online without my id before so it should be fine.
  2. idk, I think they look at the school just to see if you are enrolled.
  3. Ussualy they want a student ID number or email address. Most schools will give that stuff when you are accepted. And they might check.
